Biography

Thomas supports The Data Lawyers in the fields of privacy and IT law. He assists by conducting analyses, researching and proof reading publications and preparing presentations. Furthermore, he keeps track of developments of regulations, guidance and decisions regarding cookies. Thomas is curious, hardworking and eager to develop himself further in these fields of law.

 

Background

Thomas completed his Bachelor’s degree in Law at Utrecht University. He became interested in privacy when following the course privacy law as part of his Bachelor’s degree. This led him to write his Bachelor’s thesis about the consequences of automated decision making with regards to the ‘toeslagenaffaire’. He subsequently participated in the Law, Innovation and Technology minor program. Building on this interest he enrolled in a Master’s degree at Utrecht University: Intellectual property law, innovation and technology, where he focused on privacy and IT law in the capita selecta and wrote his thesis on non-material damages under the GDPR. During his studies, he was part of several student committees as an extra challenge and develop soft skills.

 

Thomas joined The Data Lawyers in July 2023.
