
Biography
Silvia litigates, negotiates and advises on technology related matters. Her experience includes privacy and data protection, platform regulation, e-commerce, consumer protection, intellectual property and class actions. Silvia works for a variety of clients such as e-commerce platforms, large fashion brands, tech-start-ups and scale-ups, public interest foundations and charities. Silvia is a team player who provides strategic, practical and to-the-point advice. She always aims at aligning the client’s wishes and commercial goals with legal compliance. She is a keen litigator with experience in representing clients before national and European courts, arbitration institutions, self-regulatory bodies and supervisory authorities.
Background
Silvia became interested in technology and law in University about two decades ago. She wrote her master’s thesis on the responsibility of intermediaries and the collision of data protection with other fundamental rights. She became an IP, technology and media lawyer at a renowned international law firm in 2009 and gained further experience in this area at an Amsterdam-based litigation boutique firm. She successfully completed the post-academic degree at the Grotius Academy (Information Technology Law) in 2015. She joined The Data Lawyers in 2025.
Public speaker and writer
Silvia is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars. She also gives guest lectures at Leiden University. In addition, she provides courses at private training institutions as well as for clients. Silvia also regularly publishes in law journals and other media.
Network and Memberships
Silvia has a strong international network. She is an active member of the International Association of Young Lawyers AIJA, currently acting as the Co-Chair for the Human Rights Committee and previously as officer of the IP/TMT Commission. Furthermore, she is a member of various Dutch law associations such as the Netherlands Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR) and Association for Media and Communications Law (VMC).
