Biography
Joep advises national and international clients, varying from start-ups to multinationals in different sectors in the field of IT and privacy law. He assists in the implementation of privacy compliance projects and provides in-house training and awareness sessions in this respect. Joep also assists clients with their IT/IP related contract negotiations or legal proceedings. He is proactive and practical, which is reflected in his work.
Background
Joep finished his master’s degree in Information Law at the University of Amsterdam. During his master’s he developed an interest in privacy and wrote his thesis about the privacy positions of different actors under the GDPR. During his master’s, he also spent a semester abroad at the Fudan University in Shanghai where he studied international law and Chinese languages.
Joep joined The Data Lawyers as Paralegal in October 2020 and is currently junior associate. He was admitted as attorney to the Dutch bar in August 2021.

Joep is a member of the Netherlands Association for Young Privacy Lawyers (Jonge Privacy Advocaten Nederland; JPAN).
