Update ePrivacy rules: valid consent for cookies
What are the exact rules in relation to cookie consent? How can consent be obtained in a compliant but also user friendly manner? The Data Lawyers published a white paper about this topic in cooperation with IIR.
There is still much discussion about consent in relation to cookies. On one side, organisations wish to adhere to the cookie rules. On the other hand, they wish to make their website easily accessible as possible, from a commercial perspective. Especially cookie banners or notifications that need to be clicked away by the website visitors, are a no-go from a marketing perspective. Can this be avoided? Is it allowed to interpret continued usage of a website as consent? Or is it allowed to use a cookie wall? The answers to these questions and more are discussed in this white paper, published in cooperation with IIR.
