Role and responsibilities of the DPO
Eliëtte Vaal was a speaker at the IAPP KnowledgeNet Chapter meeting on the role and position of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) at Local Municipalities.
The speakers joined in a panel discussion about the role and responsibilities of the DPO at local municipalities. The Dutch DPA spoke about its recent position paper on the position of the DPO. Where does the role of the DPO begin and where does it end? Is a DPO allowed to draft the privacy statements for the organization and negotiate the data processing agreements? To whom should the DPO report?
